Yes, Kurves Threading Studio in Farragut does henna for weddings. Fariyal Pirani, who owns the studio, is the artist. Bridal henna is quoted for each bride, because the price depends on the design and how much of the hands and feet it covers. To start, call (865) 888-0544 or email kurvesthreading@gmail.com with your wedding date and the look you want.

Does Kurves do bridal henna?

Yes. The studio offers henna design for weddings, festivals or any occasion, and asks you to get in touch to plan it. Kurves is a one-artist studio, so the person you talk to about your design is the person who draws it.

The studio is in Suite 20 of Studios West Salon Suites, 10843 Kingston Pike, in Farragut. That is a short drive for brides in West Knoxville and the rest of Knox County.

How much does bridal henna cost?

Bridal henna is priced per bride. Small henna designs start at $10 on the booking page, where the studio notes the cost depends “on type of tattoo requested and area to be tattooed.” A bridal design covers far more skin and takes far longer, so it is quoted when you enquire. What usually changes a bridal quote:

What you choose Why it matters
Hands only, or hands and feet More area takes more paste and more time
How far up the arms and legs Same reason: coverage
How detailed the design is Fine, dense work takes longer than open patterns
Henna for guests as well Each extra person is extra time

When should I book my bridal henna?

Book as soon as you have your wedding date. Kurves has one artist and a fixed weekly schedule, so wedding-season dates can fill. To confirm how far ahead brides should book with you

When you enquire, list every date you want henna.

How many days before the wedding should henna go on?

Not on the wedding morning. Henna needs hours on the skin before the color is set. A study in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health notes that natural henna staining takes 4 to 12 hours. Fariyal will confirm your timing when she quotes your design. To confirm how many days before the wedding you recommend applying bridal henna

Plan the rest of that day around it. You will need time to sit still while the paste goes on, then time for it to rest. To confirm how long a bridal session takes for hands, and for hands and feet

Is there a trial before the wedding?

Ask when you enquire. A trial lets you see a sample of the design and the color on your own skin before the big day. To confirm do you offer a trial, and what does it cost?

Can you do henna for my bridal party and guests?

Tell us how many people want henna when you enquire, and we will tell you what is possible. To confirm do you do henna for the bridal party and guests?

Do you come to my home or venue?

What should I ask about the henna paste?

Ask what is in it, and whether it is plain henna with no “black henna” added. This matters more on your wedding week than any other.

  • Real henna is brown to reddish-brown. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says henna typically produces a brown, orange-brown or reddish-brown tint. A jet-black result means something else is in the paste.
  • “Black henna” often contains PPD. The FDA says the ingredient used to blacken henna is often a coal-tar hair dye containing p-phenylenediamine (PPD), which can cause dangerous skin reactions in some people. By law, PPD is not permitted in cosmetics meant for the skin.
  • A reaction can blister and last. DermNet, a dermatology reference, says high levels of PPD in black temporary tattoos can cause intense blistering within one to two days, and lifelong sensitivity to PPD is likely afterward.
  • The FDA’s position on skin use. The FDA approves henna only as a hair dye, not for direct application to the skin, and has received reports of skin injuries from products marketed as henna and as “black henna.” To confirm OK to show this FDA line on your bridal henna page? If not, we remove it.

Our answer about our paste: To confirm what is in your henna paste? Is it natural henna with no PPD or ‘black henna’?

If you have ever reacted to hair dye or a “black henna” tattoo, tell Fariyal when you enquire and ask your doctor before your henna. The British Skin Foundation advises anyone who reacts to a “black henna” tattoo to get medical advice from a doctor or dermatologist straight away. If your skin reacts after any henna, see a doctor too.

How do I keep my bridal henna dark for the wedding?

Follow the care steps Fariyal gives you after your session. To confirm the stain-care advice you give brides Henna is a stain on the skin, so it fades with time. That is one more reason to agree the application date with her rather than guess.

What should I send when I enquire?

A short message with these details gets you a quote faster:

  1. Your wedding date, and every date you want henna.
  2. Where you want it done.
  3. Hands only, or hands and feet, and how far up.
  4. A few photos of designs you like.
  5. How many guests also want henna.
  6. Any past reaction to hair dye or “black henna.”
